CPC Training:

What is Drivers CPC and why we need it

Driver CPC is a Certificate of Professional Competence issued to drivers who are entitled to hold one. It was first introduced across the EU in 2008 for professional bus drivers and 2009 for professional truck drivers.  Its objective was to set and maintain high standards of road safety, health and safety and driving among professional drivers of buses and trucks.

IMPORTANT – A Driver CPC Qualification Card is not a driving licence. In order to drive a truck or bus you must:

  • be the holder of a current valid driving licence for the category of vehicle you are driving, and

  • Be the holder of a current valid driver’s CPC card for the category of vehicle you are driving professionall

Once you are fully CPC qualified you can apply for and receive your Drivers CPC card. Both your driving licence and Drivers CPC qualification card must be carried by you whenever you are driving your truck or bus professionally.

Vehicle Recovery Training:

We at Irish Towing, recognising that the vehicle recovery industry is moving to a more regulated approach for recovery technicians and operators working at the roadside, are keen to promote quality training for the health and safety of both employees and customers. Our aim is improve the safety of everyone working on the roadside through skill and knowledge. With this in mind Irish Towing Services has opened its training centre to provide training to the highest standards to all persons and companies.

Since 1998 we have been at the forefront of bringing training to the Industry in Ireland. We first started by becoming members of the Institute of Vehicle Recovery(IVR) and then inviting them over to provide training to both our own staff and other operators from around Ireland.

When in 2003 the International Federation of Recovery Specialists was brought to Ireland we joined and in 2010 both Alan and Rob completed the necessary training and courses to become trainers in their own right.  Rob has also achieved an ITSSAR Level 1 qualification though the IVR in the UK and continues to improve his training skills at every opportunity.

Training for everything from a lock out to a vehicle rollover is provided covering all aspects needed to complete the job both safely and efficiently.

In 2013 we were approved by the RSA to provide Driver CPC Module 1 to training providers and in 2015 our own training centre was approved by the RSA to provide Driver CPC training to all professional drivers.

All of our vehicle recovery training courses are accredited by the International Federation of Recovery Specialists and certification is provided by the IFRS on completion of the courses.
